By the Sea Productions
We at BTSP hope that all of you are well and managing in this surreal world we are living in right now. We miss performing for you and look forward to the time that will be possible again.
As you may know, our original live theater group, the Pewter Plough Players, was established as a 501c3 non-profit organization in Cambria in 1999. We moved to Morro Bay in 2017 and adopted the DBA of By the Sea Productions. Our board members, performers and staff are all volunteers.
In the past three years we have produced 14 full shows and 8 Readers Theater shows. Our 15th show, “Twelve Angry Jurors,” was set to open the day all businesses were ordered to close due to the pandemic. We hope to revive our cancelled season in 2021, including the Central Coast premiere of Agatha Christie’s classic “Murder on the Orient Express.”
Fortunately, our props, set pieces, and electrical equipment are stored in various board members’ garages. However, we rent two storage units in Morro Bay for our furniture and costumes, and we continue to pay our venue rent, which the church has graciously reduced by half. Without income, our savings will only last for a few more months, so we are seeking donations and/or sponsors to help us cover these costs: Venue rent: $200/month
Furniture storage unit rent: $215/month
Costume storage unit rent: $180/month
Total monthly expenses: $595.
We would greatly appreciate your support in any amount for these ongoing expenses…just click the donate button on your screen.
Feel free to contact me or any of our board members with any questions you may have. With your help, we will keep theater alive in Morro Bay for many years to come!
