By the Sea Productions
How exciting that we are now beginning our third year as Morro Bay’s live theater company! Our shared venue at the Erickson Parrish Hall at St. Peter’s By the Sea Episcopal Church has been a wonderful partnership for us. Even more wonderful is the enthusiastic and growing support from the Morro Bay community. Our show attendance is growing and we have had a number of sold out audiences!
For our 2019 season we are offering an eclectic variety of shows, beginning with the comedy Calendar Girls, directed by Sandy Bosworth, the true story of the British matrons who posed for a pin-up calendar as a hospital fundraiser, with surprisingly successful results. Silent Sky, directed by Kelli M. Poward, is also based on a true story of a group of unsung women astronomers at Harvard in 1900, and their impressive accomplishments. Our summer show The Liar, directed by Chrys Barnes, is a comedy farce of mistaken identities and outrageous prevarications set in Paris in the 1600s. Veronica’s Secret, directed by Lisa Woske, is a drawing room comedy loosely based on the Elizabeth Taylor/Richard Burton/Senator John Warner romantic triangle. Our holiday show is My Three Angels, directed by Janice Peters, a comedy about three escaped convicts involving themselves in a family’s holiday festivities (titled ‘We’re No Angels’ in the Humphrey Bogart movie version.)
We’ll also offer two Readers Theatre productions. The first, titled Consequential Conversations, is a collection of eight short plays by different authors and different directors, all having a common theme of people discovering or rediscovering themselves in unexpected conversations. Our second Readers production is the classic War of the Worlds radio show, about a fictional but very realistic-sounding alien invasion.
Obviously, there will be something for everyone, and we look forward to greeting many new audience members as well as our loyal ‘fans.’
By the Sea Productions is a non-profit 501c-3 organization, so we hope you will consider joining our generous group of ‘Angels’ by becoming a sponsor or donor to help us meet our ongoing operational costs. Our “wish list” and sponsorship rewards are listed below, so please take a look.
We are very grateful for your attendance and support. With your continued help, we look forward to presenting many more quality shows for your enjoyment.
